WE WON!!
The school football team won the
Kidderminster Lions Football Club?s Schools Competition 2007.
They were absolutely wonderful. All the other teams had 10 players, we only managed to muster 6, which meant we didn?t have any subs. All six of our team had to play without a break! They ran themselves into the ground. In the first match against Spennells they played most of the first half with an extra player on the opposition side (their manager thought it was 7-a-side!) Our team were 2-0 up until Spennells equalised with 2 unstoppable goals close to full time.

Our team then beat Offmore 8-0 and Comberton 4-1. As Spennells (who have knocked us into 2nd place for the last two years) also won their other games we had to face them in a play-off, although our goal difference was far better. Five minutes each way to be followed by penalties if it was a draw!! Claire said, ?We won?t let you down?. Luke came out of goal! He wanted to play out. Dangerous, we thought but they ALL played their socks off and tried so hard. None of them was going to give up without a fight. Close to half time Spennells scored. Curtains, we thought. Fortunately, our team thought differently. Luke went back into goal for the second half and again, all their performances were unbelievable in terms of determination. The result ? George scored 2 goals and St John?s were the undisputed champions of the tournament.

Goal scorers: George Hatfield 8, Sam Beadsworth 8, Charlie Wilcox was brilliant in defence. Luke Breakwell made some great saves and tried his hardest on the pitch. Claire Tolley, a real fighter all over the pitch, especially up front.
Jack Greenow-Langford, the youngest, played with real determination.
A superb effort by all of our team.

YEAR 5 FOOTBALL FESTIVAL
On Wednesday 21st and 28th March the Year 5 boys played against various schools and came 2nd in the league on both days. They played extremely well and our coach, Richard Lowe, said they played with real commitment and it was a pleasure to teach them.
