Responsibility for our world starts here at St John's - help us to spread it far and wide.

St John's CE First is an ECO School.

The ECO Action Team provides all children in school with a voice, which is taken into consideration during any decision making process which may affect our environment locally or globally.

The members of the Action Team are elected by democratic process to represent their class. Greater ownership of the school is taken very seriously by the elected representatives. Recently they have decided upon improvements to the school grounds and have been instrumental in making changes about Fair Trade fruit being offered to schools.
We were assessed for our fourth Green Flag in May 2006 and achieved it.

We were thrilled and so proud. We are the only school in Worcestershire to have achieved this status. The fourth Green Flag is a permanent award.

We've still got plenty of work to do. This year we are learning about renewable energy sources. We hope to use solar power to heat some of our hot water.
Last year we worked really hard together to save water in our school.

We learned all about water in a whole school project. We were careful not to waste water and by putting sava bags into every cistern we saved 1000litres of water every week. Severn Trent water authrity were so pleased with us they gave us the "Be Smart" award.
We heard about Water Aid which is a charity that provides water in areas of the world where the people have no access to fresh water.

We filled two bg buckets with coins to help to provide water for a group of people.
We had Commander Energy into school to work with us to show us how important it is not to waste the earths natural resources.

We learned how we are causing the earth to suffer through global warming called the green house effect.
